Candle Colors
The color of a candle sets the intention of the working. Here is what each color is for, with its planet and day.
Drawn from the standard modern compendiums, with older sources noted where they add something. What the safety tags mean.

How to work a spell candle
- Choose the color for your intention below, or white when in doubt. Small chime candles burn in about two hours, which suits most single workings.
- Carve your name, the goal, or a symbol into the wax with a pin or nail.
- Dress it: rub a little oil from the middle outward to both ends to draw something in, or from the ends toward you to send something away. Roll it lightly in powdered herbs if you like, keeping them thin.
- Time it by the planet's day and the moon: waxing to grow, waning to release.
- Light it with your intention spoken aloud and let it burn down in a safe holder while you can watch it. Snuff it if you must leave and relight it later.
- Dispose of the remains by burying them, or in the trash for banishing work, taken away from your home.
