Lead

Lead is the metal of Saturn: heavy, dull, slow, and poisonous, the base matter alchemists hoped to turn into gold. Every tradition here gives it to Saturn, and through Saturn to Capricorn and, traditionally, Aquarius. Curse tablets in the ancient world were scratched onto lead.

Uses

• Binding and banishing
• Protection and boundaries
• Endings and closure
• Grounding heavy energy

Pb (atomic number 82)

Working with it

Use Saturn's glyph, or a safe stand-in such as a dark stone or hematite, rather than real lead. On a Saturday, write what you are binding or ending, fold it away from you, and weigh it down under a heavy stone.
